The inspiration behind Harbour Sunsets
Sydney is where Amalthia began. Its harbour at sunset is the starting point for our first collection.
Harbour Sunsets begins close to home. Sydney is where Amalthia took shape, and the changing colours of its harbour are the inspiration for our first collection.
We are drawn to the moment when warm light meets cooler water: peach and coral against blue, with softer shades appearing as the light changes. It is a palette that feels both lively and gentle, with room for different moods around a table.
From a place to a palette
A place can inspire a design through colour, shape and atmosphere. For Harbour Sunsets, we are exploring those details rather than a literal picture of the harbour.
The curve of a sail, a line across the water or the way one colour meets another can become a starting point. The intention is for the collection to carry something of Sydney while feeling at home on many different tables.
Designed to work together
Part of setting a table is deciding which pieces belong together. Amalthia grew from a desire to make that process easier, with coordinated elements that still leave space for your own plates, glasses and favourite objects.
Harbour Sunsets is our first exploration of that idea.
Still taking shape
The collection is in development. As we move through prototypes and testing, we will be looking at how the designs work together on a real table and which details need refining.
We will share that process here: the inspiration, the decisions and the changes along the way.
Our hope is that Harbour Sunsets brings a little of that evening warmth into your home, whether you are gathering for a celebration or simply making time for dinner together.
